Make the most of the fall with trail running picturesque mountain trails during larch season...

The alpine season may be coming to an end however the fall is one of the best time to run in the Rockies. And we have planned this camp right around larch season. 

Join this camp and let alpine guide and trail running enthusiast Kris Irwin lead the way on some of the most iconic trails in the Rockies.

Running options include: Lake Louise Swiss guides trail to toe of glacier and tea house stop, Iceline in Yoho, Paradise valley to Sentinel Pass, circumnavigate Mt. Temple. Days will be decided on group ability and weather.

This camp is not advanced however previous trail running experience is required.

Camp Objectives

The main goal of this camp is to get on beautiful trails at a beatiful time o year however the following skills will be taugh during the course:

Gear needed
- How to pack
- Navigation
- Safety
- Spacing & efficient movement through various terrain

Day by Day Adventure Itinerary 

Saturday:

  • Meet outside the hostel entrance ready to go at 8:00 am
  • Review gear and safety
  • Drive to the chosen trail head
  • Run, run and run
  • Debrief the day before heading back to the hostel

Sunday:

  • Meet outside the hostel entrance ready to go at 8:00 am
  • Drive to the chosen trail head
  • Run, run and run
  • Debrief the day before camp ends
Is this Camp For Me?
Intermediate

You do not need to be a good trail runner but you need to be fit enough to jog for a few hours and have some previous trail running experience.

Food, Accommodation and Guiding

Food
To keep the cost of this course as low as possible for participants, food will not be provided as part of the course. So please brink along your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (or favoured alternative), a packed lunch and some snacks for both days.

Accommodation

Accommodation for the night of the 12th at the Lake Louise Hostel is included.

Guiding

Kris Irwin is a full Alpine Guide as well as a trail running enthusiast and is excited to share his favourite trails with you.

Your Guides

Kris Irwin

Kris is an ACMG Alpine Guide. He lives in Banff with his wife Ellen and their daughters Aria and Annie.

Kris is certified to lead all types of rock, ice, and mountain climbs. He has been climbing in the mountains at home and abroad since 2004. Although he feels most at home on the classic ice climbs in the Rockies he has also made several first ascents in Alaska in the past few years.

Kris is one of the most active waterfall ice climbing guides in the winter and in the summer can be seen leading guests throughout the Rockies, Bugaboos and Rogers Pass. An excellent instructor and personable guide, Kris always gets rave reviews from his guests
